Catnip: One in three cats have no response.

Both of Belinda's cats LOVE the 'nip. While both of mine have pretty much no reaction to it. I saw this statistic when a reader asked if it's normal that one of their cats doesn't respond to catnip:


"March 24th 2008—It is not surprising that one of your cats does not respond to catnip. In fact, it is estimated that about one-third of all cats do not respond to it. No one has yet determined precisely how catnip works or what its effects are on the brain. Since catnip is biochemically related to marijuana and other psychedelic drugs, one theory suggests that the pleasure response in cats is similar to that experienced by humans when they are under the influence of these drugs."
