"People have seen so much fashion over the past few weeks that I thought it might be nice to do something different," noted Gregory Parkinson yesterday afternoon at a garden party celebrating his Fall 2008 collection. The event, which was hosted by Shiva Rose at her Brentwood house, attracted guests such as Brooke Shields, Cameron Silver, Liz Goldwyn, Magda Berliner, Jasmin Shokrian, and Keisha Whitaker. Also there was stylist-turned-actor Phillip Bloch, who described the metallic-inspired creations presented upon twenty mannequins as "feminine fantasies." As for Parkinson's pick of the bunch, the English designer who's called California home for the past decade zeroed in on the sleeveless chiffon frock worn by Rose. "It's got to be that one," he said. "It's classic California—and by that I mean it's completely non-seasonal. And that is precisely what my clothes are all about."
