seeing eye to eye

At last night's Mulberry party in London for the label's new artist in residence, Gethin Moller, Agyness Deyn looked fully recovered from the conjunctivitis that felled her during the last round of shows. When asked if she gave it to Isaac Mizrahi, who was afflicted with the same eye condition at the CFDA event on Monday, she replied, "God, I hope not. That would be more than embarrassing, wouldn't it?" The real eyesore at the event, which was attended by a decidedly East End art crowd, was the increased security, no doubt a precautionary measure in the wake of this week's latest designer smash-and-grabs. One was at the neighboring Ferragamo shop, where thousands of dollars' worth of bags were stolen; there was also a failed attempt to snatch some shoes from Jimmy Choo. "God knows this is definitely the wrong place to shoplift," said one partygoer. "Still, I'm holding on tight to my bag tonight."
